Marie Jean bottle: i could not get through the age and tartness of this wine and never have known it was a Pichon, just old. NR

Georges Notes:A rather odd nose and one that seems off, overwhelming aromas of mint and menthol, a touch earthen but also perfumed, but lacks distinct elements, the aromas are a bit obscure and green with only a hint of the sweetness that one expects from this property; better in the mouth, opening with a nice layer of sweet black fruits, but there is a problem with this bottle; the flavors are obscured with the same menthol elements that were in the nose, which gives the wine a rather medicinal character; there is nicely
presented dry red fruit in the mid-mouth, but it is quite dry and short; a chalky earthen finish; if typical, this wine is definitely past its best now. (17)
