Friday, July 8, 2016 - We love Kanonkop wines. Mainly known for their Pinotage but their Bordeaux varietals are stunning. Garnet red with medium intensity. Nose is very earthy with some light barnyard, damp leaves and wood and light expresso beans. Moderate tannins (6/10) and full bodied. Still quite a punch for being 12 years old. Some softer red fruits with some twigs and slight vegetal notes. Definitely not off putting at all. Long and lingering finish. This will hold its body for a couple years, for prime enjoyment drink till 2018.
