Purchased on our honeymoon, 10 years ago, and sitting in our wine fridge ever since, this bottle is now 15 years old. On opening, beautiful nose with strong cassis, some earth, hints of graphite pencil shavings and blueberry notes.
Color is dark garnet, medium viscosity. Still some tannins in the mouth, sappy and slightly coarse. Fruit (more dark than red fruit), earth and wood. Long finish, slightly hot, but not off-putting. This is our only bottle but I think this will hold for quite a number of years to come.
Significant sentimental value, but truly a lovely bottle.

We love Kanonkop wines. Mainly known for their Pinotage but their Bordeaux varietals are stunning. Garnet red with medium intensity. Nose is very earthy with some light barnyard, damp leaves and wood and light expresso beans. Moderate tannins (6/10) and full bodied. Still quite a punch for being 12 years old. Some softer red fruits with some twigs and slight vegetal notes. Definitely not off putting at all. Long and lingering finish. This will hold its body for a couple years, for prime enjoyment drink till 2018.

Slightly earthy nose, touch of berry but not overly potent. Tannins could be suppler at this age, gentle, pleasant bitterness though. Body otherwise smooth, pleasingly complex, as the earthy tones work to its favour. Except for the tannins, very good overall balance. Enjoyable.
