Saturday, October 15, 2016 - Late Saturday night gathering (Adam's House in DC): Exceptional condition bottle that I acquired from Christies a while back. Beautiful nose displaying sweet red fruits, stewed cherry, pine sap, cabernet green, cedar, leather, sous bois and a hint of VA. Initially slightly angular and thin palate but with air, nice gains fruit weight. Subtle yet decadent red fruits and VA driven palate impression, fully integrated sweet palate, bright acidity and freshness and lovely long finish that ends with a hint of VA. This is why some of us go crazy over really old clarets. Paul correctly guesses St. Julien but thinks from the 30s, Justin correctly guesses the vintage but at Pauillac, both incredibly impressive.
