Sunday, December 4, 2016 - Luxuriant, nutty, rancio nose with candied citrus peel, savoury spice, marzipan, and chestnut honey. Taut on the palate. Monumental acidity, which balances sensations of candied citron, more marzipan, nuts, and iodine. Long, with a complex, multifaceted finish oscillating between the saline, the honeyed, and nutty components, each flowing seamlessly into the other. An outstanding food wine, which found a good match in Norwegian smoked salmon and Culatello. I can imagine this ageing well for another five or six decades. A serious, grown-up white wine.
