Monday, December 12, 2016 - After seeing the huge variation in scores on this wine, I have to wonder if we're drinking the same thing. I originally felt there was some good potential here, especially for the price. I've been stealing a sip here and there as I used this wine over the years for braising short ribs or making Boeuf Bourguignon. It never disappointed. Now, with only six bottles left out of two cases, I've begun drinking it and am stunned by some of the really low scores. I'm not going to inflate the score simply because it was cheap and tastes great, I'm scoring it for what I believe it is: a really nice bottle of wine. It has toned down bit by bit over the years and now seems to be at its best. I think an end date of 2016 is a bit short, so I'll open my remaining bottles every couple of months and report back.
Tonight we'll have the half bottle left from last night, with salmon and green beans.
