Saturday, February 4, 2017 - Exceeded my expecations, and a very good value in the context of Burgundy at $26 (bought in '15, not upon release). Upon opening there was a whiff of merde and I thought it was going to be a very barnyardy Burgundy, but that turned out to be bottle stink that blew off in 15-20 minutes. Over the following hour it blossomed into a very nice villages, with a core of wild strawberry (fraise du bois) and tarragon (to my nose anyway -- this is not an scent i usually pick up in wine) aromas envelopped in more savoury aromas such as forest floor and a hint of beef. Nicely balanced with similar flavors on the palate, albeit leaning towards a more masculine style of Burgundy (befitting the appellation). With a bit of air, this is one of the nicer villages wines I have ever had, and drinking very nicely at the moment. I suspect it will plateau for another 2-4 years, possibly longer considering that a glass and a half on day two were just as enjoyable as on day one.
