Friday, February 10, 2017 - Theme (blind) was 10 years old or older French Rouge. I brought an older Morgon, as an experiment. Rosalie brought this one to make up for that. The Morgon was a pleasant surprise, this was magnificent. We put in in a decanter for about three hours prior to the tasting, based on other's notes. The wine was absolutely singing when we drank it. Almost uniformly considered the WON, against some stiff competition from Bordeaux. Dark, brooding color, no signs of age. Rich, complex nose. Lots of flavors on the palate, seemed like all the varieties contributed. Long, pleasant finish. One interesting comment: This renews my faith in Beaucastel.
