Saturday, April 22, 2017 - We made a classic bad mistake. We had a Syrah night and compared the SQN to 2006 Two Hands Ares, 2005 Guigal Ampuis and a 2006 Cayuse Cailloux. Don't get me wrong, we are really lucky to have these and ALL the wines were fantastic. But the Guigal proved the wine of the night because it was the odd man out compared with the new world wines. On any other night, these wines drank separately would have eulogies written about them. Anyone, the SQN was a huge full bodied wine, with amazing complexity and already leather and tertiary notes coming in. I have one more that I'm going to keep for a while. It will get better...
