Monday, July 17, 2017 - This light-bodied, non-vintage white is typically a blend of 50% Loureiro, 40% Trajadura and 10% Pedernã. My tasting note reflects serial sampling (from lot #Q02496) while watching the summer sunset in La Jolla over the Pacific Ocean. It is a summertine setting where this wine will show best. Pale yellow-green and with modest pétillance that dissipates rapidly in the glass, it is a dry, light-bodied, easy-drinker with fresh acidity, no detectable alcohol (9%) and a core of bright green apples, stone fruits and pears. The flavors hold on nicely in the middle and the crisp finish is of medium length. This quaffer is meant to be enjoyed during the summer on the beach, lake or front porch. Low in alcohol and low in price, it is a nonvintage white which should be in everyone's summertime stable. Drink it during the same summer that you buy it from your retailer, who hopefully does enough volume to ensure that it is the latest release. Drink now.
