Perfect, light & refreshing everyday effervescent Vinho Verde. Great QPR under $10. Writing from memory but I recall green apple and not a lot of complexity nor a long finish, but tasted refreshing. Had it in 90 degree weather and paired with bbq shrimp - was a great match. Also had an Albariño that had a longer finish and more structure, so the contrast was interesting, and we liked both.

Light straw-hued, near translucent. Aromas and flavors of apple, lemon zest, lime, minerals, pear, salt, and stone. Medium-light body and high acidity. Lightly carbonated. A complex nose; a crisp palate; an elegant finish. A blend of Loureiro (50%), Trajadura (40%), and Pedernã (10%).

Near clear in the color department, slight carbonation. A nice, light, tart Vinho Verde even after sitting in the cellar for probably close to a year. I wouldn't keep this too much longer as it needs its youthful brightness. This is a great wine for a hot day on the porch by itself or inside on a snowy day with a greek salad with a meyer lemon vinaigrette as it turned out. This is now my go to Vinho Verde at this price point and I'll stock up soon for summer.

This light-bodied, non-vintage white is typically a blend of 50% Loureiro, 40% Trajadura and 10% Pedernã. My tasting note reflects serial sampling (from lot #Q02496) while watching the summer sunset in La Jolla over the Pacific Ocean. It is a summertine setting where this wine will show best. Pale yellow-green and with modest pétillance that dissipates rapidly in the glass, it is a dry, light-bodied, easy-drinker with fresh acidity, no detectable alcohol (9%) and a core of bright green apples, stone fruits and pears. The flavors hold on nicely in the middle and the crisp finish is of medium length. This quaffer is meant to be enjoyed during the summer on the beach, lake or front porch. Low in alcohol and low in price, it is a nonvintage white which should be in everyone's summertime stable. Drink it during the same summer that you buy it from your retailer, who hopefully does enough volume to ensure that it is the latest release. Drink now.

Broadbent Selections (Musar, +++) (Western Reserve Wines): Sampled this from a few different bottles (yes, I hung around for a bit). The first had the secret code indicating a 2016 release and it was not quite as fresh and less spritz as later bottles of unknown release of course, it may have been opened for a while too. In the end all were 87-88 points and excellent values. Light gold in color with a bit of green. The nose has some green apples and bits of minerals. On the palate, the spritz is nice, but mild. Refreshing. Easy to drink. Some green apples. Nice finish. At $9 and 10%, this begs for summer evenings on the patio.

Medium nose shows white flowers, a little over perfumed or fruity style, lime zest, dry slate, daffodils. Palate is acidity first, nice there, fruit is pretty limey, lemongrass, very simple complexity, low alcohol (9%) and quick dry finish. Solid choice but at the same time forgettable.

Another LWS, This time Ports, Madeira and Montillas (Western Reserve Wines): This is always such a great value. From the Lot number code it appears this was released in 2016. Very pale silvery gold in color. There is some spritz to it. Green apples on the nose. The palate is pretty lively. Easy to drink. It has a nice acidity although it has a short finish. Low in alcohol. For $10, this is a really nice. Now, if the weather would warm up and I could drink it out on the patio.

Exactly what I was hoping for: very fresh, very dry, very clean, very light Vinho Verde at a very good price. No flaws, none of the slight sickliness that VV can have (esp at this combination of price point and alcohol content). Quite prickly, medium-plus acid. Good QPR. 9%, $9.

Pale straw with hints of green. Neutral nose with some youthful esters (generic white flowers). Slight green apple, underripe white peach. Fresh and light in the mouth - a definite frizzante, more than petillance to it (some CO2 is injected at bottling). Feels like very slight RS, around 3g/L (actually only 1.48, but it’s so light that this shows). Light bodied, low alcohol (9%), medium plus acid, and moderate length.

Pale lemon in color, this wine revealed tart green apple, papaya and stone fruits on the nose. The mouth feel brought high acidity with effervesence, minerals and hints of honeydew dew melon. The finish brought more effervesence and a refreshing, high-acid tone.
Purchased for $9.99US, this is an ideal aperitif with its 9% abv and slightly sparkling tone. Recommended to drink as cold as possible for maximum flavor.

What a great summer white! Spritzy, lots of lemon and honeysuckle aromas. The palate tastes like lemon jolly rancher candy, ripe, but a real zinger. My girlfriend made this our unofficial "house" wine for the summer, and I've gotta say, it's solid juice. A total bargain at $8.

Some evidence of gas in the wine, really light straw color with green tinges. Unripe pear green apple and lime on the nose as well as tropical fruit: banana and guava. Also notes of wet hay. High acid, pear, lime and banana on the palate. Low alcohol, it finishes sweet and sour with a moderate length. Moderate complexity, great wine to pair with anything spicy. Refreshing, simple and good

I've gone through almost a case of this wine this year and haven't been as diligent about posting TN's on all of them. Then again, this is a pretty consistent wine but never the less Bartholomew Broadbent's recent Facebook post on this wine made me realize I am long over due for one.
After spending most of the day outside at work I had a glass of this late last night as a night cap before bed. Sure I could have had a glass of Port, but I had a craving for something a little lighter and fresher. The thing I've always loved about this wine is the crisp acidity and tangy citrus flavors, so that made it an easy choice. This isn't a hugely complex wine, but if your looking for a light bodied, refreshingly crisp white wine it has enough going on to keep me interested...bottle after bottle after bottle. A perfect inexpensive white for the coming summer months. 86 Points

my first vinho verde. On the whole, a pleasant summer wine, light and refreshing. Some lime and other citrus, with a bit of apple and pear on the nose. Good acidity, slightly evanescent, with the citrus flavors quite prominent on the palate. Short finish as to be expected. This is a lovely wine to sip out on the porch, and went well with tilapia.

My first Vinho Verde. Had this with our anniversary dinner. No formal note, but loved the crispness. A great summer wine, and it held up well throughout the night. It had qualities of a Sauv Blanc, but also of a Riesling. I would love to try this again, and take notes, but I thought this was outstanding, and it turned me on to a wine I was unfamiliar with.

Nearly clear and effervescent with a suprisingly fine bead. Simple, clean, soft pear/kiwi fruit aromas; dry in the mouth with a length that, while modest, is more than I expected. The spritz here is very welcome, compensating for the low acidity. An excellent hot-weather or lunchtime quaff.

Tasted toast, a little bit of greenness, green apple, and acidity. Bartholomew said this wine is aged in closed tanks (think he said stainless steel) then they inject a little CO2 just before bottling.

Imported by Broadbent Selections, Sonoma, CA.

a lovely little wine. refreshing, crisp, light, hints of apple. quite quaffable during the day, for apertifs, or anytime. some may call it simple, I think of it more as unpretentious.

Just a super thirst quencher on a hot August day. Nothing really special or complex. A little spritz really helps cleanse the palate. Crisp without being lip smacking. Young and fresh lemon and apple flavors. Low alcohol. Smooth lemon and melon finish.

Certainly a cut above, this has quite a different and complex nose of tropical fruits and maybe some muskiness, too, very moreish/juicy.

This is simply a fun, yummy warm weather/summer wine that everybody should enjoy. A little fizz, served ice cold while you're sitting out on the patio. Goes great with tons of different foods. Perfect for grilling and BBQs. The price is nice. Regular rack rotation for me during the warm months. Just had my first bottle of 2013. Looking forward to many more.

A perfect inexpensive white for the coming summer months.

my first vinho verde.

Refreshing on the nose. Taste like Sprite and some green apple. High acidity that awakes your appetite, if you're not already eating. Goes down easy, not too much length, but fine for this type of wine.
