Wednesday, September 27, 2017 - Tasted blind. Bright, medium (+) ruby, with a garnet hue on the rim. The nose is clean, intense, with aromas of black currant, graphite, cigar box, coconut, spice and vanilla. The nose is developing and showing a fair bit of new American oak. The palate is dry, with medium acidity, medium (+) but polished tannins and medium alcohol (13.3%). The palate is consistent with the nose, with a little more ripe but tart black and red fruit coming through. This is a very balanced Cabernet, with medium (+) body, flavor intensity and length. It is in a really good place now and - thanks to its cooler climate roots and structure - seems more youthful than 11 years of age. It has plenty of life left.
