Tuesday, October 3, 2017 - To the eye- darkest garnet to the rim, thick viscous legs.
Nose- mineral, damp cedar box, a touch of capsicum, white pepper, brooding dark red fruit, a sweet floral lifting freshness.
Palate- RIPE dark fruit blueberries/mûres/cassis, I waited 2 years to try this wine so the tannins are still very present but allow for an acceptable level of drinking with refreshing acidity, peppery, extremely long, powerful but so well balanced and elegant despite its youth, AND only 13.5%(so commendable)
Drank with simple braised lamb shanks I wanted the wine to shine, a delight!
A star wine which I never fail to buy, always over performs. This Sociando has 15, 20, 25 years of life in it. The wine did not disappoint. Worth 5x the price. I want to give this wine a higher score but I will contain myself!
