Wednesday, November 1, 2017 - Tasted blind. Halloween night at Chateau Davyd.
Appearance is clear, pale intensity, ruby colour. Legs.
Nose is clean, medium intensity, with aromas of sweet spices, red cherries, chalky earth, light touch of integrated vanilla oak. Developed.
On the palate, dry, medium+ acidity, medium+ alcohol (14.5%), medium tannins, medium+ body. Medium+ flavour intensity, with flavours of sweet black cherries, red velvet cake, chalky earth, licorice. Long finish.
Good quality. Elegant pleasing style. Not for further ageing. I was actually guessing a New World possiby NZ Pinot Noir.
Soft and lacking oomph. Ridge's Zinfandel blends would trample all over this and crush it.
