Monday, November 27, 2017 - Blackberry and floral notes on the nose, the latter typical of the Pesenti soil (in my experience). Great acidity in the mid mouth, with a balanced finish - medium tannins (from a Turley zinfandel standpoint) that are firm enough to stand up to a fatty meat and refined enough to sip. As usual the alcohol is well-integrated so the wine doesn't taste hot to me (although I always do feel the 15+% ABV). Certain Turley plots of soil drink well in youth; this is one of them. Turley churns out terrific mid-week wines and this is no exception. Pesenti is in my top 10 (along with Hayne, Ueberroth, Dragon, Mead Ranch, Dusi, Rattlesnake, Vineyard 101, Frederick, and Salvador).
