Very tart cherry, prune, and rhubarb on the palate, which made it pair poorly with a beautiful roast beef tenderloin. Had this as a pop and pour, so I’ll revisit this tomorrow and see if I like it better then. Pesenti is normally one of my favorite Turley Zins, but this was just too tart and acidic. == Was much better 24 hours later, after vacuumed out the air overnight. Much less tart, but still not a favorite.

In a great spot…bigger and more pronounced finish than the bottle we drank in January. The finish was long…bery long. Flavor profile and nose were very similar to January. I would drink now, but it has at least a couple of years on it.

Crimson in color. 15.7% ABV. Super nose of red and black fruits, anise, citrus and pepper. Medium body with ample acidity and notable balance. Rich and plush. Black cherry, raspberry, baking spices and pepper on the palate. Tremendous length on the finish. Don’t be deterred by the ABV. This Zinfandel is elegant and shows a ton finesse. Best over the next 1-2 years.

Decanted 1+ hour, kept at 68F. Pristinely stored bottle. Really liked the structure of this wine - better than many other non-high elevation Turley Zins! Fairly deep, spicy fruit with some grilled meat and lots of pepper. Seemed fairly representative of Paso, with some nicely integrated tannins. Some chalky minerally on the finish, but nicely integrated with fruit. No sign of the 15.7% ABV, and this didn't come across as very acidic. ne taster detected some interesting cigar paper notes...

Complex delightfully evolving flavor w clove/spice, sweet black berry & plum highlights and mod long finish. Did not appreciatem pepper. Excellent flavor but loses points with the acidic mouthfeel. This is a wine to enjoy over as much time as you can spare. After a PNP (at cellar temp) it was fairly primary as noted by other recent notes. Fairly quickly it begins to open with the berry flavors and for a short period it was apple pie, the fruit, the cinnamon, the hint of clove and yes - the buttery crust. We then appreciated a bit more body and darker flavors but few hints of lushness that Pesenti can offer. NTL - a fine wine and worthy step up from delight-filled JVs and OVs.

This bottle tasted a little tart. Like fruit that needs to ripen a little more. Went well with BBQ ribs, but not so well on it’s own. Not the Turley Zin I expect. And pretty sure I’ve had Pesenti before.

This was pulled from wine fridge, opened and poured through an aerator. This is well-balanced, smooth and delicious. The front end is soft but develops more character in the mid and on the finish. Will it get better? Maybe, but it is pretty good right now. Enjoy!

Better bottle by a point, than my last couple and also the final bottle of this vintage in my cellar. Still my fav Turley vineyard. The flavor profile is quite strong still and the acidity and spicebox as with most of my bottles is just great. No apparent drop off over the years with this one. Sad to see it go.......went great with a big pizza and family to share it with.

Agree with other posts - something is awry with this vintage. Pesenti is one of my favorite Turley zins, but the 2015 is off. Tart rhubarb, black tea. Bitter, acidic. Not the full smooth lushness I've come to expect. Have one more of the 2015's. We'll see if that's better, but I doubt it.

I love Turley, but I have to agree with other reviews here that say Turley wines do not age well. Tonight's 2015 tasted like it was much older. That being said, it was still drinkable, with notes of dark cherry, raisin, prune, and raspberry.
We’re drinking through our 2015 Turleys as fast as we can. (Life is rough.) They have not held up well in the cellar, and the finish of wines from this vintage is consistently short, lean and acidic. The Pesenti (usually one of our favorites) is no exception. Fruit tones and spice in the bouquet following through on the palate somewhat. But falling apart in the finish. Drink up. Pass.
I did not like this wine, Opened two hours before dinner. The nose was absolutely beautiful with deep aromas of plum, rhubarb, and coffee. The palate was another thing. It was dominated by rubarb, with flavors of plum and burnt rubber. The finish was not enjoyable by any means
Thin and tart without the typical Turley Pesenti spice. Didn't get to this until it had been open a while so possibly too much air as Mark1 mentions. Next time PnP!
Maroon color. Plump, plush, jammy plum fruit. Classic black pepper notes enhanced with contrasting allspice and other baking spices. A bright cheery style of Zin. Enjoy it now for its youthful exuberance.

Another great bottle with tasting notes as before. Wonderful fruit, peppery spicebox and acidity all the way through. I've got but one of these '15s left after tonight.....will be a sad day when this vintage of Pesenti is gone. One caveat......< 1 hr of air is best. Develops a little sour fruit/tartness if too much air hits it. For that reason alone this is a pnp for me.
Pnp, drank over 2 hours. As it got more air & warmer, it turned into almost a dessert wine. Sweet, ripe fruit bomb & smooth, yet still has some tannins to store longer.

Another beautiful bottle.....enjoyed with tacos for dinner after an absolutely terrible 12 bottle zin tasting at a local wine shop tonight which included an absolutely terrible '15 Turley Fredericks. Got better and better all through the night. Easily the best of any zins we had tonight and that included quite a few of the accepted standards including Limerick Lane, Trentadue, Rockpile, etc. Great red fruit, acidity and structure compared to all the others.

I initially was taken aback by the fizzy acidic start to this after using the Coravin.....initially tastes a little hot or of young vines. Grows with air into the rather typical Turley taste profile and barrel treatment. Definitely needs about an hour of air to blow off all the confusing nuances. Tart red fruit, spice/pepper, plum and black tea....so typical. Am glad I didn't blow this off based on earlier reviews. It is young, from younger fruit, but it is still good if you give it air, time and let it warm a bit. Might be even better if you let it sit another year or two. Depends on how young the fruit actually is. I suspect this vineyard, Dragon and Mead have been replanted recently and we are seeing some of those younger vines included in the wines now.

Initial smell is of raspberry and forest floor—very appealing. However over the course of the next three hours, the fruit continued to expand until it opened nearly into a fruit bomb. Fruit overwhelmes all else. I’ll hold my 2nd bottle for at least 3 years.

Medium ruby color, slightly lighter at rim. This is a big jammy beast of a wine with blackberry, plum and strawberry jam attacking the nose with a lot of spice (5-spice) coming out as well. Mocha blood orange and sweet tobacco complete the profile. Medium tannin and acid with a full, somewhat creamy, mouthfeel. At this point in the game, the alcohol is a little overpowering. I worry that the tannin and acid structure will not support a long bottle life and this will turn into a jammy wood bomb with too much age. However, for those that like big Zins this is a fun wine to drink now.

Nose reminds me of the forest - ferns and dark undertones. Palate is blueberry, black currant, black pepper and other spices. Moderately tannic, medium body, will hold. Still rough around the edges.

Short trip to Paso Robles (Booker/Turley): Small tasting pour. Less minerality driven than the Judge Bell and the Amadeos drunk next to it. This is sweeter with sweet dark and especially red fruit, even some honey scents. Not overripe. Round tannins, medium- body, medium+ flavor intensity. I liked the precision of the fruit aromas quite a bit.

PNP, consumed over three hours. For a Turley this is really different with a bright (zesty) and crisp profile. Screams of black cherry. No noticeable tannins as it's very smooth and more mouth watering than dry. Very reflective of the limestone soil in the vineyard and not the "house style" of the winemaker. WS scored this 92 and that seems about right.

Deep garnet in color. Nose of raspberry, cherries, apricots, and hint of moca and heat. Tastes of tart cherries, raspberries, peaches, and hint of leather. Lovely acidity and pure fruit. Light tannins, very accessible, drink now and over next 5-7 years. May be better to consume sooner to experience the lovely fruit.

Had a series of fine wines at the new Elizabeth Hotel's Emporium and Wine Market. This was one of the top four wines and one of there best Zins we have ever had. A supple bowl of black cherries and earthy notes. It IS QUITE young, but the staff was kind enough to decant. It does need breathing and decanting badly. Best plan is to leave it alone until 2019 or after. A very different Zin, almost a Rhone style with mouth-filling fruit.

Blackberry and floral notes on the nose, the latter typical of the Pesenti soil (in my experience). Great acidity in the mid mouth, with a balanced finish - medium tannins (from a Turley zinfandel standpoint) that are firm enough to stand up to a fatty meat and refined enough to sip. As usual the alcohol is well-integrated so the wine doesn't taste hot to me (although I always do feel the 15+% ABV). Certain Turley plots of soil drink well in youth; this is one of them. Turley churns out terrific mid-week wines and this is no exception. Pesenti is in my top 10 (along with Hayne, Ueberroth, Dragon, Mead Ranch, Dusi, Rattlesnake, Vineyard 101, Frederick, and Salvador).

Bursting at the seams with ripe red raspberries, this is a BIG Zinfandel not for the feint of heart. The tannic structure is huge, but polished to a shine. Tart cherries on the long and supple finish. This could get a lot better with some age, so I’d expect this to be even better on a few years, up to a 94 or even a 95. Classic Turley.

Red fruited and light style with medium depth and short finish. Normally one of my favorite Turley’s but this remains a bit disappointing.

Absolutely fantastic. In my opinion more flavorful than the old vines. Nice fruit and spice. Ready to drink.

Color, clarity and body in perfect condition. This is a round fruit forward gem! Lots of berries start to end but ends with some white pepper that works really well. This is good now and can last a year without losing flavors.

Popped and poured at a restaurant. Fruity and peppery, quite nice.

Pesenti delivers big acidity (always) and unripened qualities in its youth.

Initial smell is of raspberry and forest floor—very appealing. However over the course of the next three hours, the fruit continued to expand until it opened nearly into a fruit bomb. Fruit overwhelmes all else. I’ll hold my 2nd bottle for at least 3 years.

Weak. Not like years of past. Very little going on with the finish.

Medium weight and nothing on the backside. Not sure this will put on some weight so I'm withholding judgement for now.

Delicious. Bright bramble fruit with green cardamom, pepper, and black tea accents and a bit of blueberry sweetness.

Beautiful wine. A little harsh when opened but evolved one hour later into a fruity, jammy, and spicy cuvee.

ZAP TRADE TASTING, nose of berry fruit, jammy fruit, and briar, same on the palate, medium/big body, tasty, slightly simple, good flavors, better in two years, lovely, long finish.
