95 Points

Monday, December 4, 2017 - Nose: Blackberry, Overripe Strawberry, Baking Spice, Sage, Charcoal and hints of tobacco. Touch of alcohol early, but subsides with decanting. Palate: Very dense but elegant. Retains a nice freshness and lift to the fruit, and does not express any roasted notes. Blackberry, kirch, dark cherry and mineral notes. Beautiful spice in the mix as well. Finish: Long and lingers with nice dark fruit leather, spice and herb notes.

Remains exceptional, but needs about 2 hours in the decanter at this time to fully come together. Does not have the structure of vintages like 2009 and 2012 so I expect this to remain fairly accessible.
