Blackberry, blueberry, red cherry, strawberry, smoke, earth, herbs, a little new leather, and spices on the nose. Blackberries, plums, tart cherries, red cherries, cassis, wood, herbs, and earth on the palate. Bright, mouthwatering acidity, integrated tannins, long finish. Quite a powerful wine but so much freshness and elegance from the acidity. Delicious. Wow, I loved this.

Full bodied. Jammy plum, black currant fruit. Some coffee and cassis on the finish. The tannins are just about fully integrated. This has gotten much better than when first released. Peak drinking?

Yummy. Ok, let's get to details. A nose of primarily oak, dark fruit and surprisingly a little heat even though it's only 14.7%. Initial attack is fruit, raspberry, blueberry, a touch of cherry. The structure is excellent, tannins that are still alive and enough acidity to provide an solid base. A finish that is long and beautiful. This is a really pretty wine, if I may use this descriptor. And, after an hour in the glass, it really opened up suggesting a decant would be beneficial.

2008 Napa Cab Retrospective (Fresno): 92-93 No formal notes on this one. Being the 2nd to last wine in a flight of 20 CS my palate and nose were starting to fatigue quite a bit. Was lucky to bring this one back and tasted on day #2. Day 2 was still showing elegant dark red fruit profile, perfumed nose, but did seem to lose a bit of its luster.

Nose: Blackberry, Overripe Strawberry, Baking Spice, Sage, Charcoal and hints of tobacco. Touch of alcohol early, but subsides with decanting. Palate: Very dense but elegant. Retains a nice freshness and lift to the fruit, and does not express any roasted notes. Blackberry, kirch, dark cherry and mineral notes. Beautiful spice in the mix as well. Finish: Long and lingers with nice dark fruit leather, spice and herb notes.
Remains exceptional, but needs about 2 hours in the decanter at this time to fully come together. Does not have the structure of vintages like 2009 and 2012 so I expect this to remain fairly accessible.

Q1 - 2017 Tasting - Starts with the Letter.... (notes from another taster) (New York, NY): Bonus bottle opened at the end of a long tasting event. Need to leave the remaining bottles down for at least another five years. Still very fruit forward with a lot of blueberry notes, good structure and tannins so should continue to integrate and improve for some time ahead.

Decanted for 3 hours, double-decant back to bottle - served from bottle. On the nose this smells of lush blueberry. This seemed ready and open for business. Very smooth and velvety with ripe blueberry and some chocolate notes. Ends with a bit of sweet tannin.

Fragrant on the nose with both fruits and flowers. Medium in body. An elegant balance of blackberry and raspberry, orange peel, and wood. Certainly not your typical big Napa cab, not also a structured Bordeaux.

Raspberries and a hint of blueberries in the nose. The palate is well balanced with cool blue fruits followed by ripe raspberries and a hint of orange peel. Medium length with mostly integrated tannins. Delicious wine.

Corra Vertical: Corra Vertical tasting. We barrel tasted this with Celia several years ago. It was pretty then, it is beautiful now. It is initially closed, but hints of greatness. While it is already very smooth and integrated, there is an interesting tartness on the finish which makes me love the wine even more.
On day 2 it has closed a little, but still delightful. I recommend 2 or 3 years before trying the next bottle.

Wife made a very complex and delicious dinner and we decided to pair it with a great cab. Based on the reviews here, seems like this was a can't miss. It was basically undrinkable, a hot alcoholic mess. I have no idea what happened here. I bought on release, stored properly, but there is no way the juice in here is correct. I have been a long time customer of Corra and have come to expect great things, but this was not that. I will chalk it up to an off bottle.

Beautiful wine. I was enjoying socializing the first night it was opened and didn't take any formal notes. There was enough left to enjoy a glass on the second night and wow, this wine is wonderful. Nose of cassis, sweet tobacco, dark fruits. Smooth palate. Noticed touches of cocoa throughout to the finish. Tannins had definitely softened by the second night. I would either recommend a long decant or show better patience than me and wait a few more years to open next bottle.

This is beautiful wine. Very impressed. My first bottle of Corra. Extremely smooth with good fruit taste, but not over extracted. Very silky and complex wine with a finish that is a bit austere. Pleased that this wine is powerful , but not over Oakes like some Cabernets. Half a glass leftover the next day and was still an impressive wine even after it has been opened for 24 hours. Looking forward to more Corras!

Meeting (of) the Parents; 5/12/2012-5/13/2012 (Cambridge, MA / Lincoln, RI): Nose: Very perfumed and full of Cherry, Blackberry, Cassis, Floral Notes, and Sweet Oak. Palate: Med/Full bodied after a 3 hour decant. Very nice palate feel that is signature Celia Welch. Red and Black fruit, jammy Blackberry, Chocolate covered Cherries, and hints of Sandalwood and Leather. Again very layered on the palate and filled with nice spice and nuanced complexity. San Antonio Wine Geeks; 4/13/2012-4/14/2012 (Tre Trattoria): Maybe my favorite of the modern styled Napa cabs. Dark fruit on a shy nose. Palate is highly structured, showing sandy dry tannins on the finish. Has plenty of rich dark fruit, with a touch of herbs and cedar spice. Long finish adding some chocolate overtones. Nicely put together with plenty of structure to age. 93-94

Popped and poured of 1/4 of a glass with the idea of slow-ox for the rest of the bottle until this evening. Initially, I'm surprised. This is my first Corra, and for whatever reason, I was expecting something much bigger and more fruit forward / dense. In contrast, this seems to find a very nice sense of balance. After 10 minutes in the glass, cassis and background cedar dominate the nose. On the palate, dark fruits with just a touch of sweetness, balancing acidity, and deft wood treatment. The latter is the highlight of this wine for me - it is in no way over-oaked. Overall, medium to medium heavy in body, at least compared to its peers. Mild tannins on the finish. A lovely wine and a pleasant surprise. I probably won't pull another bottle for 5 years or so, if discipline allows. 93-94 points for current drinking, with my taste preferences for aged wines.
My overall impression is of a very well made wine. Initially I was expecting more, but this wine has such a purity that it doesn't need the overdone gimmicks to show well.

This was our first Corra. Been watching from a far. Decided to try, albeit knowing it is quite early. Needed to determine if we continue with purchases. Notes: Decanted for 3 hours; truly opened after 5. This was a very “odd” Napa cab. We agreed this wine had a dominant scent of oldness to it. The taste was distinctly unique – parallel to smell. We were hoping it wasn’t bad. Dark color; soft tannins. Sweet tobacco/tar, fruits coming through on backside. After a few sips, we really got into the uniqueness. Stable structure. CT family loves this wine so we’re going to wait a year before opening the other…but we’ll certainly take another risk in purchasing the ‘09s when released.

this is what cab is about! fabulous. the color is deep, crimson, inky red - not black. on the nose you get macerated black, briary fruits with a nice mix of spice and vanilla. swirling it reveals its rich texture. on the palate, there is fruit up front, deep and sweet (but not due to RS) with soft tannins coming in thereafter. a lovely, lingering finish of plums and blueberry. this has that perfect balance of softness with a masculine edge. neither flabby or too structured. my favorite Corra yet.

Pours dark garnet with hints of purple. Full on the get go with amazing dispersement across the tongue making it seem light on it's feet. Velvet tannins and gleaming acidity add to the texture as this specimen glides across my palate with the greatest of ease. Complex and genuine, Corra offers spicy cinnamon aromatics at the core accompanied by ripe cherry, cocoa, raspberry, and currant. I taste bulging cherry pulp, plum, raspberry, currant and blueberry with some minerality and a pinch of mocha. Lucky Charms cereal comes to mind. The red fruit is in the foreground for a very approachable and gracious wine not without the tell tale signs of age worthiness. Terrific!
