Friday, September 30, 2016 - Piedmont Trip, Day 2- Gigi Rosso, Schiavenza, Cavallotto (Barolo, Piemont, Italy): Nose: The nose is a bit too green and herbal from the start along with volcanic ash, red cherries, red berries, and some rose petals. It's not so much that the green notes drive it, as it is a bit persistent and lurking around every corner.

Taste: Medium bodied with medium+ tannins and medium+ acidity. The tannins are somewhat green and the acidity is on the astringent side. That said, the feel is round and pretty with herbs, red fruits, rose petals, and some red cherries.

Overall: This was effected by the vintage a great deal. It is easy drinking and clearly for early drinking, but it lacks in some departments that would make it better.
