75 Points

Saturday, May 26, 2018 - I'm somewhat mystified by the reviewers that give this wine a high score. I understand that everybody has different tastes in wine but I usually like big Napa cabs (Outpost, Larkmead, Rivers Marie, etc.) but I think this wine is not very good. It's resemblance to cheap port is striking for a dry table wine. I have quite a few vintages of Lewelling and most of them are quite good but this vintage is a huge swing and miss by Dave Wight. If you have any of this in your cellar please don't share it with anybody you want to impress; you'll be embarrassed.

5/27/2018 6:32:00 AM - Nice note. I had a similar experience with the 2007 Lewelling entry level cab. Interesting that Parker rated the 2007 entry level Lewelling 95 and the Wight 98. Maybe this vintage drank better young. Besides the 2011 vintage, the 2007 vintage was the only one that I didn't care for since the 2001 vintage. Take care.
