87 Points

Tuesday, February 27, 2018 - This has been open for 24 hours, showing better today than yesterday. It's a little dark in color, but still lighter than the '15. The aromas are pretty, with some juicy character, bell pepper, some strawberries and blackberries, and a pumice or volcanic thing I wouldn't expect... acidic on the palate but also feels a little out of balance, with some surprising alcohol notes present. Finish is similar, showing some alcoholic notes and astringency of bitter green bell pepper thing present. Very strong in intensity. The '15 Prestige had this amazing texture that's just not present here. This may turn out better with age, but the best vintages are beautiful on release. This is certainly tasting better today than yesterday, but 87 is all it can muster today.
