91 Points

Tuesday, August 21, 2018 - Nose is quite shy, cherries and leather with hints of toasted cedar and forest floor. Palate is elegant but closed, not revealing much even after an hour in the decanter. The structure, which is deep and persistent, is at the front at the moment. The acidity is providing a supportive role as the texture is rounded and velvety. Very long and smooth finish, with some bitter tannins at the end. It seems like the wine is at the shutdown phase now. Given the texture and length of this wine, it should open up beautifully in 5 years’ time. 89-92 pts.

Retasted in Sep 2019, it is still not ready to drink, quite closed and thin initially. Needs plenty of breathing for the wine to open up with decent density. Though it softened faster than before. No change in score. Keep for another 3-5 years.

Retasted in Oct 2022 and Mar 2023, the wine still needed an hour of slow decanting with a Bordeuax glass for the bouquet to open up. Profound earthy layers of forest floor, seasoned leather and cedar, gravel stone and sour cherries in the undertone. The medium-bodied palate is rich, round and full of umami notes. Nice density and length from entry to a deep finish with a touch of bitter but powdery tannins. Still evolving. Another 3 more years in a dark cellar will be even better. To increase by 2 pts to 91, with potential to go up to 94 pts when it is at its peak.
