Saturday, September 15, 2018 - The peppery notes are strong here, which is a good thing as it really adds to the fruit. The wine is supple, fresh, juicy and sweet, with a lush, deep finish. The wine was made from blending 65% Grenache, 15% Syrah, 15% Mourvedre and 5% Cinsault. Give it a few years in the cellar as there is potential for aging here.

10/12/2018 6:31:00 PM - Sorry about the confusion, I was quipping about Rimmerman's pitch to the email list (everyone) that included "bottled expressly for you" (with the "you" being plural). I was just wondering if you acquired the bottle from Garagiste.

10/12/2018 6:33:00 PM - Oh... No. All the 2016 Chateauneuf du Pape wines I wrote about, were tasted while in Chateauneuf. I am not a Garagiste customer.

10/12/2018 6:46:00 PM - Got it. Thanks. My radar was up when the Garagiste pitch came in today with that line about the bottles being "bottled expressly for you". My concern, naturally, is that, cough cough, there could be some "bottle variation". So I'm tempted to bite on the Garagiste and then secure another couple bottles via traditional, well-regarded retailers so that I could one day do a side-by-side.

Note too that his pitch includes the line "Now that the “numbers” are coming in, so are the re-order requests" and then the link to cellartracker.com, which contains exactly one review, which is yours.

FWIW, if you are a fan of 2016 Chateauneuf, the vintage is stunning. Go to my site and peruse the article along with the notes on about 220 wines in total.

10/13/2018 7:48:00 AM - Believe me, Jeff, Rimmerman isn't crediting you! I really appreciate your CT notes. I'm going to head over to your site. It is also nice hearing another voice confirming the quality of the 2016 vintage. I need to dig deeper and buy more, even though my means are more limited than many collectors.
