Friday, December 21, 2018 - Les Barres vertical for 冬至 (Chicago, IL): This is a little broader and richer than I'd expect in Chablis. It's definitely got great material here, with some delicious pineapple fruit, a good hit of minerality, and some solid acids, but at the same time, the malo here is really too intense, and you lose that bracing, sharp malic acid. Nonetheless, this is a very good bottle of wine, showing great pedigree. It's just that the style isn't really what I expect when it says Chablis on the label. Can't help but wonder if they're trying to emulate Meursault.
