Saturday, July 29, 2017 - Misc. CA Reds (Vintage Wines Ltd., San Diego, CA): “70% Zin, 15% Carignane, 12% P.S., & 3% Alicante Bouschet, harvested from 8/18-9/15/15 @ 24.3˚ ave Brix; Fermentation: Destemmed, full crush, 100% floating cap; Natural primary & secondary (malolactic) fermentations; Daily pump-overs; Pressed @ 8 days; Aged 14 mos in 100% air-dried AM oak barrels (5% new, 14% one, & 81% three & four years old.) 14.5% ABV;”

N: Slightly closed, but RIPE, jammy; Intensity lurking!

P: Med, poss MF, body; Almost swtish frt met by FINELY tannic pucker which QUITE resolves by the LONG, ult pleasant finish. DESERVES 18-30 mos for this elegantly styled/balanced wine to TOTALLY strut its stuff! IMPRESSIVELY crafted! :) 95 pts Connoiseurs' Guide, 94 Vinous (Galloni), 93 RJon Wine, 92 Dunnuck, 91 Decanter's Panel, 90 WS, 92 & 87 (2x) winealign.com, and 17/20 Jancis Robinson!
