Friday, April 12, 2019 - Been cellaring this for 11 years. In that time, I've moved 5 times, my wine has moved 3 times, and I've often wondered why I keep this around, having been relatively unimpressed with my first taste of this circa 2009/2010. But now I know why (I was told why a decade ago, but it was all on faith. Now I know my friends weren't just pulling my leg. Thanks, guys!)
14 years past vintage, this is akin to drinking a heavier, more perfumed white burgundy. The color was bordering on orange, and that unctuous oiliness I recall from 9 years ago has been replaced by a lovely palate weight without the oil. The flavors are more in harmony, the alcohol is seamlessly integrated (before I thought it stood out too much) and honey and almond flavors have emerged. This was gone almost immediately after opening - Chris wondered where we could get more.
