Wednesday, May 22, 2019 - Definitely decant this now for at least an hour, preferably two. The nose opens with fresh red, blue and black fruit - plum, strawberry, muddled cherry and blackberry - that is satisfyingly accentuated by baking and mulled spices. Swirling the glass reveals solid funky aromas that add depth and intrigue. The body, which has significant depth and structure, is kept medium plus by juicy acid and refined, but still mellowing, tannin. With another 5-10 years of age, this will develop world class mouthfeel. Initial flavors include elegant cherry, salmonberry, vanilla, cardamom and velvet, but as you hold on to it, crunchy huckleberry emerges. This is as young as I'd want to drink this. I'll open my next bottle in 2021 or 2022.
