85 Points

Saturday, August 9, 2008 - There's a slight tart fruit as well as ripe raspberry/strawberry on the nose. Slightly mineral with a hint of licorice on the nose as well. Has a nice aroma after first pour. Would definitely settle in nicely with decanting. It's got a classic merlot tannin with some spice, cocoa, and berry on the palate. Slightly back of the palate and a long finish. Not a very big merlot and could go well with a number of dishes without overpowering. But also, I bought this bottle for half-price and it was listed at $30. This wine is fine at $15, but I've had more impressive wines for $30 - so look for it when it's on a sale. I would also recommend decanting this wine for a bit to let it get a little more complexity. Maybe wait on this wine if you can.
