91 Points

Wednesday, June 12, 2019 - Anyone that knows wine knows Le Mesnil-sur-Oger is the finest village for Chardonnay in all of Champagne. This BdB articulates its chalk slope terroir and Grand Cru designation at a fraction of the cost of the big Champagne houses. The bouquet resonates with brioche, lemons, yellow apples, and mushrooms on a bed of creamy lees. The palate follows suit, where bottle age complexity has softened the champagne, providing a ripe, creamy, caramel-like layer of lacy intensity. It’s poised and structured, vinous and textured, with plenty of mineral-inflected precision, vibrant acidity, and a kiss of salinity. It finishes crisp, full, and classy. 91+
