Monday, December 10, 2018 - Feinherb, aka. off-dry. 10,5% alcohol.

Youthful, pale whitish-green color. The nose feels somewhat sweet-toned but also a bit reticent with slightly underwhelming aromas of lemon marmalade, some peachy stone fruit, a little bit of perfumed floral character and a hint of wet stone minerality. The wine is light-to-medium-bodied, off-dry and enjoyably racy on the palate with bright flavors of sweet lemony citrus fruits, some honeydew melon, a little bit of sappy herbal character, a hint of steely minerality and a touch of waxiness. Lovely, bright acidity offsets the sweeter edge of the residual sugar wonderfully. The finish is lively, crisp and off-dry with flavors of honeyed richness, some lemon marmalade, a little bit of red apple and a hint of beeswax.

A very refreshing, bright and racy Riesling with a great balance between the off-dry residual sugar and incisive acidity. Not a particularly complex effort, but nicely Mosel-ish effort all the same for a Rheinhessen wine. These lighter, almost weightless Kabinett Rieslings with a great balance between the residual sugar and the acidity are really up my alley. This is nothing too memorable, but works perfectly as a reliable, versatile all-rounder. Nice!
