Saturday, October 5, 2019 - Cadence's 2015 Tapteil Vineyard bottling is a Bordeaux-style blend of 46% Cabernet Sauvignon, 33% Cabernet Franc and 21% Merlot. Opaque crimson and brimming with black and blue fruit, it adds notes of licorice, graphite, bittersweet chocolate, tobacco and characteristic Washington State tree bark. Full-bodied and freshly acidic, it wraps its fruit with sturdy tannins and spicy oak. The wine's alcohol (listed as 14.4%) is nicely integrated and the mid-palate is impressively dense. Closing with a lengthy finish that carries some tannic grip, this is an outstanding red that will benefit from a bit more cellar time. Drink 2021-2030.
