Saturday, December 7, 2019 - It’s been a while since it tasted Chardonnay and honestly speaking I am not an expert. Not to mention getting a 2001 vintage. Though not from burgundy, it open up an entirely new perspective for me on aged Chardonnay!
Initial aroma when first opened reminded me of brandy. An old type of brandy like Martel VSOP kind. Probably with the golden yellow liquid in my Riedel Veritas Chardonnay wine glass. A swirl and the first note that hit my nose are wooden note like oak, cedar and pine. After 30 minutes ripe banana, barley and butterscotch buttered popcorn just came out secondary note.
Low tannis and acidity bring out the balanced taste. Oh did I mention the long finish with pandan leaf lingering in my mouth.. Savouring every drop. OMG Loving it!
