Tuesday, December 31, 2019 - I was surprised to find the 2015 Pegau so elegant and light-footed - but then again, this is one of Chateauneuf's great charmers. Kirsch and garrigue on the nose, with an appealing savory note reminiscent of dry aged beef and cracked black pepper developing with time. The garrigue, lavender, and supple fruit on the palate come across as fresh and promising. This is labeled at 14% ABV, but the wine is balanced and it doesn't feel hot. Pure finish. Having written this note and only now looking at the critic scores, I wonder if the wine was more exuberant shortly after bottling?
