Friday, January 10, 2020 - Another Year, Another Napa (aka Winter in Wineland IV); 1/5/2020-1/11/2020 (Napa/Sonoma California): From the 'vintage pour' at Press. This was great. First of all, not often that I get to do birth year wines and given the birth year not often when I do that they are actually good. But this was drinking very well. Old school Napa.

However, there are pleasant surprises from time to time. I have a bottle of this that I've been saving for 40. Your note gives me some hope!

Best birth year I've had is '81 Grange but it needed prob 3+ hours in decanter to get there. Beaucastel also makes a good one and when it's 'on' it's meant to be awesome although I always seem to get bottles that are so-so. But I hear you. Tough one to have.
