2018 Vietti Barolo Ravera

Community Tasting Note

Likes this wine:

Wednesday, January 22, 2020 - The ‘18 Ravera was quite closed on the nose, showing only hints of dark berries, plum, dusty florals and hints of minerals; yet still, I found myself being drawn closer and closer to the glass with each sniff. On the palate, silky textures were quickly firmed up by riveting tannins, with lifting minerals and inner florals creating a more feminine feel. The finish was long, yet also quite tannic, showing a mix of red fruit, inner florals and spice. As usual, the Ravera is impossible to judge at such a young stage, showing quite understated but with a structural core that may carry it for decades. (Barrel Sample: 93-96 points)
