Wednesday, February 12, 2020 - Burgundy, Day 2 (Beaune, France): At Castel de Très Girard. The nose initially shows only a bit of reduction but paradoxically this seems to grow with air. The palate is quite broad, with a good amount of ripe fruit and acidity, but at the same time this doesn't seem to have the same amount of layered complexity as some earlier editions of this wine (I'm thinking especially of a 2011 that I had a few years ago). Truth be told, even though this is quite a delicious bottle of chardonnay, it's a bit of a let down given the name on the label.
