Tuesday, March 17, 2020 - Bought £22.00 online Exel Wines, Perth UK March 2020
More inky/heavy/richer than I expected for a Hawke's Bay Syrah, more ''old fashioned Australian'' I suppose. Intense flavours here, opened way too young, I'll cellar until at least 2023. Previous vintages of this have had more white pepper, being lighter/more elegant; there's enough acid here but there's shed loads of fruit too, super-ripe - is there even a hint of it being jammy?? Balanced in the sense that some gentle tannins up against all that fruit. Some length, not especially dry, a pleasent finish. Medium+ body.
VFM?.....Hmmm, not especially a bargain, £22.00 is about right.
