Thursday, June 28, 2018 - This needs about two hours to get going, but once it does it's lovely. Blind I'd have guessed this was a middle aged Domaine JL Chave St Joseph from a strong vintage. The nose oozes reductive, smoky pork skin and game notes. Palate echoes the nose with a dark minerality. Really excellent and drinking well above its village status. Will improve for at least another 3-5 years but drinking great already and showing significant development. But then... it closed up completely. As in 100%. Nothing here.
Half the bottle on day 2 and it's baaaack, intense nose of decaying game, like an aged pheasant in your glass. I'll hold my remaining bottles another 2-3 years.
