Tuesday, March 24, 2020 - Mouldy cork and a tad musky initially. After that a beautiful nose of cassis and tobacco. Red currants and chocolate coming through. Classic in style but perhaps not as traditional as I was expecting with the ripe fruit from the vintage obvious. Liquorice dominant as it opened up. Took 4 hours in a decanter to fully reveal itself. Became more classic and tannic as the evening wore on.
Day 2 of what was left - surprisingly raspberries & blackcurrants come through and the tannins much more in the background. This will definitely appeal to those who prefer more traditional Bordeaux (as I do) but it didn't wow me.
