94 Points

Wednesday, May 13, 2020 - Intense black fruit, cherry, licorice, plum and hints of black tea. With some air, strawberry emerged on the nose. Very primary and concentrated. I wouldn’t call this a fruit bomb. At the same time, it’s hovering on that edge. After more air the finish became a little monilithic with too much black cherry and some heat. Very well made wine if not quite my cup of tea. 94 still young. I always (rightly ir wrongly) like comparing American wines to what I know from Bordeaux. To me, this comes across as a supercharged Cos D’Estournel or Montrose (think northern Medoc in a hot year).
