Friday, June 12, 2020 - First time trying Ridge. American oak is immediately apparent on the nose, which I did not know beforehand. After a bit of air, the oak gives way (a bit) to cassis and cherry. The palate is cherry, currant with loads of acidity and chewy tannin. Not sure whether the fruit survive long enough for the wine to mellow. An enjoyable contrast in style nonetheless.
