Thursday, July 16, 2020 - Part of vertical tasting of 14, 15 , 16.
Ah, this is it. This is the normal Bedrock Heritage I'm used to.
Powerful but refined.
Garnet, with hints of purple, with developing meniscus.
Raspberry, cherry and plum on the nose and the palate. (Carole had strawberry as well). Fresh and balanced, yet impactful. This could clearly go a few more years (but after tasting the 15 I was concerned). But no worries. Drinking well now with overtones of olive and light earth mixed in - but I think this will get better over the next 2-5 years.

7/16/2020 10:59:00 PM - Excellent notes - very encouraging about the 16! I prefer most of my single Vineyard Bedrocks (especially Bedrock Vineyard) with more age so I've only recently sampled a 14 (which I personally thought could still use more time) but now I'm looking forward to trying a 16 down the road! Thanks again for posting!

7/17/2020 6:12:00 AM - 16 is simply amazing! I've tried the 18 recently and was underwhelmed comparing the two. Maybe it just needs time. Hopefully!

7/17/2020 7:32:00 AM - MJP, I would assume the 18 needs a LOT of time. I have a pretty hard rule that I don't touch the single vineyards for 5+ years. They truly demand age and really reward time in bottle. For example, the 2007 last year was still drinking great, and the 08 was absolute fire!!

7/17/2020 8:00:00 AM - Rich! Greatly appreciate the direct feedback on these wines. Bedrock is fairly new to me and the oldest vintage I've tried is 16 which is still a baby. After the positive press I wanted to learn more about this producer.... to simply put it.... I'm very impressed, and the price point is a nice break from the Napa Cabs. I will make sure to sit on these 2018's per your suggestion. Cheers my man!

7/17/2020 8:06:00 AM - Love it! And I totally agree - absolutely excellent wines at more than fair prices, with outstanding customer service. Literally checks all the boxes for the type of wineries that I like to support. Excited for you to explore more, as I know you will continue to be impressed. If you can, get your hands on a 2012 single vineyard as they are prob fairly easy to secure online and are all drinking REALLY well! Cheers bud!
