Saturday, September 19, 2020 - Revisiting this wine almost a year later. Same notes persist. Only decanted three hours this time.
Ox-blood, full bodied
Dark jammy berry fruit, some tar and flint. Not a powerful nose.
Fruit has diminished. More earthen and vegetative tastes (some green bitterness). Medium finish which culminates in a tad of sour plums. Acidity is prominent.
Smoked a Ashton VSG
A good wine for sure, but it fell short of my expectations, especially for the QPR.
So, two bottles down and one to go. I am hoping my last bottle shows better when I crack it sometime in the next 12-16 months.
