Sunday, February 14, 2021 - Had a bottle about a year ago at a restaurant and at the time was knocked out. I remember thinking it tasted like a wine that might retail for the restaurant price ($100 or so) - but I also wondered if maybe the bottle had been in the cellar a couple years. No way to know with these NVs sometimes. Either way, fantastic with braised rabbit and oysters. Big body, full and rich, just wouldn’t quit. Nose had hints of warmed brown sugar on toast.

Fast forward to this year and a definitely new bottle. On first taste, clearly the restaurant bottle did have some age. More acidity up front on the new one, less toast but it’s still there for sure. Great stuff. Maybe not one I’d imagine retailing for $100 but certainly more than the $49 it cost. Will set aside a few for a year or two and see if I can recapture the magic of the first bottle.
