92 Points

Tuesday, March 9, 2021 - Last bottle in 2014, I thought it needed time. Paired with my fettuccini/bolognese sauce. Good reason to check in on this.Slow ox for 90 minutes, drank over an hour w Charlotte.

Purple/ruby color, slight fading. Nose showing dark and blue fruit, spices and oak. Ripe palate of black fruits, currants, brambly fruit, leather (?), floral/violets. Layered and creamy texture. Black cherry/mineral though the mid palate...Full body, medium/long finish.

Last tasting I thought this was too extracted. Cellar time has mellowed the excess - still a ripe and expressive wine. In a much better point now (IMO). Interesting to see the range of scores and notes. Likely just style preference, love it or hate it? Went well with the bolognese, needs richer foods for pairing. Should drink well for another decade
