Sunday, April 18, 2021 - Rich blood red in color. Nearly opaque. Some signs of age on edges. The nose is forward, with loads of ripe fruit — black Cherry, blueberry, blackberry — and warm secondary notes of cigar, cedar, dark chocolate and cinnamon. Big. Palate is lovely with great balance, a soft but not quite velvety texture, and quite strong acidity that adds a balancing tartness to the ripe fruit. Fruit is ripe but not cloying at all. Riper on the notes. Blackberry and black cherry flavors. A touch of spice. Tannins are also high, but ripe and well integrated. The finish is a bit drying and little sour. A powerful and warm styled wine that is in a nice spot right now.
