93 Points

Wednesday, April 28, 2021 - I took this one a little while to get going. Probably a good solid 45 minutes before some of the plum and prune notes started to give way to aged black cherry and blackberry. When it did, smoky black cherry was on the other side of the curtain. Very herbal, had a lot of volcanic influence and red clay which you can usually only see in the Cabernet Sauvignon when they are aged. Finishes with classic Rutherford dust. The tannins are definitely giving way and starting to drop out of the bottle. This wine is definitely showing its age, and there for a while I thought it was on the downward slide. However, this one still has a fair amount of life left, but you need to give it an hour in the decanter at this point.
