Monday, May 3, 2021 - Picked up a couple more bottles and decided to try it again since I last tasted it in 7/2020. Matchstick, pear, flint, stones, lemon peel, some toasty oak. Showing a little more now than it did previously, but this still needs some time. The fruit is a little muted in the nose but you get more lemon citrus, pear, and apple on the palate. Medium+ acidity gives it a good backbone. Good balance overall. It's all there but it needs time to develop. You can definitely drink it now, but you'll be well rewarded if you can cellar it several more years. My guess is it's likely best 5-8 years from the vintage (so 2023 - 2026). I have a feeling most of my remaining bottles won't make it that long. A steal at $20 and a stellar deal for WV chardonnay. Blend of Durant and Whistling Ridge fruit.
