Saturday, April 4, 2020 - Light crimson to ruby.
Vivid aromas of ripe red plum, black and red cherry, sous Bois and spice.
An elegant wine soft and approachable on the entry with breadth to the mid-palate supported with a surprisingly strident acidity and a plum skin texture. Firm savoury lined tannins give shape to the palate keeping the palate's fatness and flesh under control. There is plenty of fruit with Bing cherry paste, red plum coulis, and even wine gums as the palate opens further. It was a reasonably powerful wine with a good depth of flavour, but I found it lacked some complexity and excitement - as the glass opened, some feral notes showed. A little monochrome. possibly needs more time to allow the tannins to resolve.
