Saturday, February 12, 2022 - Pop and pour. Tasted after finishing the balance of an opened bottle of 2017 Rivers Marie Occidental Vineyard Pinot.
Dark purple.
Nose initially offers that Pinot funk, wet earth, compost, and wet wool/sweat socks.
After letting the wine open up, the nose shows blackberries and an herbal sage- basil note. The wet earth funk is still there as well.
Nice spicy orange peel blackberry notes on the intro. Bright acidity.
Still shows a funky earthy bass note as the wine opens up.

After a day refrigerated under Vacu-vin, this wine has improved. The exposure to air has been good.
Dark fruited with a dried tangerine peel note, and woodsy element as well.
Raised my impression.
